Nestled in a wooded corner of Williamstown, WV,. This home was designed by the Architects at Pickering Associates and was built as a pilot project to demonstrate energy efficiency and environmental design in the region. As the state's first LEED* Platinum home, the design emphasizes sustainability, good fit with the local environment, energy efficiency and excellent indoor air quality. The home, built with a modern interpretation of a Craftsman theme and completed in 2012, is also US EPA EnergyStar and EPA Indoor Air Quality Plus certified, and is positive-net-energy (which means that is solar panels produce more power that the building uses in an average year including an Electric Vehicle charging Station in the garage). The "additional living suite" is an 800 sq/ft studio. It is currently being used as a teaching studio with a separate entrance. Other uses could include a mother-in-law suite, or office/meeting space.
