Soils range from red gravelly clays on the hills to dark heavy black dirt in the fertile bottoms and drainages. The brush diversity is excellent, with lots of blackbrush, guajillo, huayacan and granjeno. The darker soil areas feature large mesquite, persimmon and even a few oaks.
