George PlaceThe George Place Tract has been in the same family for multiple generations. From November 1830 to November 1858, Rufus K. George received the original patents on much of the property in 8 patents from three presidents, Andrew Jackson, Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan. He also purchased land from adjacent neighbors to put together the tract we call the George Place. Rufus and his wife, Desdemona, passed the property down to future generations.  Ancestors of the current owners are buried in a family cemetery on the property. This is the first time the property has been offered for sale to the public since it was acquired from the United States and neighbors before the civil war.  Seldom is a tract of this size, 2,600 contiguous acres, available for purchase. The tract has multiple age stands of planted pines which gives management opportunities for a sustained regular income.
