The original home was constructed in the late 18th century. Although it has been udpated and upgraded where need, many features remain intact from its fireplaces to raised panel doors and gunstock posts. The main portion of the original house offers a center entry flanked by two parlors, one now the formal dining room, the other the living room. The simply-designed country kitchen is located to the rear and offers cherry cabinets, stainless steel appliances (including an Asko dishwasher) and large windows over the sink affording a view of the back field and the mountain beyond. Catch a glimpse of deer, fox and the occasional bobcat from here. The rear corner of the main house was enlarged and is now a 19' x 34' great room with pine paneled walls, a hearth and woodstove and double sets of sliders opening onto to a lovely side deck. The side ell of the house, facing the barns, is one story consisting of three rooms - a large entry, a library and an office. Also located in the ell is a full bath separate laundry room.

Upstairs in the main house are two generous front bedrooms, each with a fireplace, and three smaller "back bedrooms". The master has a private 3/4 bath and the remaining bedrooms share an oversized full bath. The walk-up attic, perfect for storage, is accessed via the hallway.

Mechanical systems are updated and the house has been wired for a generator to manage your needs in the event of a power outage. The windows have been replaced with energy-efficient units as old windows in antique homes can be a major source of heat loss.

Outside - what can we say? The outbuildings are charming and include a small studio with a variety of attached storage areas, a sheep shed and two barns, one built in the 1980's and an 18th century barn moved from Keene, NH and reassembled here. Both barns have year-round water and electricity; the newer barn has a wonderful and enormous insulated workshop with a woodstove. This barn is long enough to store 4 vehicles (and/or a boat) on its concrete floor as it is double deep. the walk-up loft is clear span as this is a trussed building. The antique barn was used for sheep and chickens. Either can be retrofitted for horses or other livestock.
