This tract was clearcut and chemically site prepared in August 2010. It was then planted in early 2011 with Weyerhaeuser genetically advanced seedlings. Recent inspections of the pine seedlings show they are well stocked with good spacing and currently free of competition. A stand of hardwood timber is located along a drainage through the tract providing water protection and cover for wildlife, especially deer. This property is located within an oil field and contains a few active oil well sites.
The topography of the tract is gently to moderately rolling with mainly Smithton fine sandy loam soils with some Guyton, Warnock, and Bibb soils. The NRCS Web Soil Survey reports the average site index for Loblolly Pine of between 86 and 90 feet (base age 50). These good soils make this an excellent site for long term timber growth as well as offering hunting and recreation opportunities.
