Approximately 53 acres of former agricultural fields have been planted in native longleaf pine, while retaining significant borders and fields within the pine planting for food plots of multiple sizes and shapes. A habitat improvement thinning was completed in the woodlands along Bear Creek to create food sources and cover for wildlife and improve access to the wooded portions of the property. The frontage along Bear Creek, over 6,700, makes up the northern and eastern boundary of the property, providing security and an ideal travel corridor for game to access the upland woods and food sources scattered throughout the property. Simply put, if you were to draw up an ideal mix of habitat to attract game to your property this would be it. The evidence of this is hard to miss, including an incredible 190 buck killed along the boundary by a neighbor, as well as numerous deer in the 140 to 160 class that are on camera. The turkey population thrives in this habitat as well, evidenced by their near constant sightings on the farm and game cameras. Best of all the property has not been hunted while focusing on habitat improvement projects. Game populations, habitat and age class for deer have been the priority until the habitat goals have been reached.
