The ranch itself is 312 acres of forest of aspen and spruce mixed with verdant meadows of grass at elevations of 7000 to 7600 feet. Living accommodations are as fine as they come, for Flying Dog boasts a stylish 3000 square foot home designed by Aspen architect Peter Dobrovolny and a roomy 1200 square foot guest house, attached to a three-car garage. Both homes overlook a trout-filled lake and provide luxurious year-round or seasonal occupancy. A new addition to this property is a 1700-foot grass landing strip and a 48x60-foot hangar/barn onsite to accommodate private planes. Sportsmen require little introduction to the White River Country. The nearby Flattops Wilderness is home to one of the largest elk herds in the nation, producing many trophy bulls annually. Elk, mule deer and black bear are frequent visitors to the ranch proper and are abundant in the nearby White River National Forest. The White River is perhaps the finest big-trout river in the state, offering large populations of rainbow and brown trout and mountain whitefish from 14 to 20 inches, with many larger. Two and one half miles of public fishing on the White River are available only a half-mile from the ranch. In addition, the nearby South Fork has many more miles of excellent flyfishing, extending deep into the wilderness. On the ranch itself, fishing is excellent for large trout on a professionally-designed pond that includes an aerator system.
