Just how big is 407 acres? Well, its about a 4 mile hike around the property boundaries and the vertical elevation rises from about 1400 to almost 3000. Expand your hike if you wish and step directly from the property into the New River Gorge National Park and stroll for hours on end.
About 40 acres of Old Growth forest located at the entrance of the property overlooking the New River has not been harvested in over 100 years. This is a very special part of the property as the large, mature trees create a unique habitat which appeals to animals and humans alike.
Each year, Bald eagles nest on Brooks Island surrounded by the New River. The island is easily seen from the main house and the eagles are often sighted soaring across the property. The abundance of wildlife can be fully appreciated by spending a few hours hiking, looking and listening for all the Walla Halla forest has to offer.
