MEADE COUNTY, KANSAS, The OBrien Ranch consists of 7,256 acres located approximately 16 miles southeast of the town of Meade. Having a variety of good grasses, farmland for supplemental feed, and Conservation Reserve Land makes it the diversified property it is. The terrain varies from flatlands to rolling sand hills. There are several separate pastures and traps all with good fencing. Crooked Creek, a live stream, runs through the ranch for 3½ miles. In addition to Crooked Creek, the livestock water is supplied by windmills and springs. There is 1 main headquarter site with 2 houses, corrals, shop and other outbuildings, and an older headquarter site with a shop, corrals and older house. Besides having good grasses for a cattle operation, the ranch supports a variety of wildlife such as Deer, Quail (both Blue and Bob White) and Turkey.
