The Stockton Lake area has a lot to offer for families, fishermen and vacationers. Stockton Lake was built in 1969 by damming the Sac River by the Army Corps of Engineers. The lake boasts about 39 square miles of area in the 3 counties of Cedar, Dade and Polk, with nearly 300 hundred miles of shoreline.

The lake is known for its excellent fishing and recreation boating, hosting regular fishing tournaments and sailboat events.
