The extended growing season resulting from the five acres of high tunnel hoop houses allows them to grow hemp, which they process on the premises, as well as crop cover and vegetables, including heirloom tomatoes which are supplied to markets in Atlanta, Columbus, and Auburn University. Because of the protected growth of the hoop houses, they get two growing seasons with protection from insects and fungi.
The solar panels have significant battery storage for back-up energy to supply power to the farm when there is no sun. Power generated is also sold back to the grid.
The Geothermal system uses the large water reservoir for heat exchange and supplies heating and cooling for hoop houses and the residence.
Local universities, Auburn University and Alabama State, both get grants to do research on the property given our close proximity.
May 17, 2021, Alabama enacted the Medical Marijuana law, which could provide additional opportunities for this established licensed hemp farm.
This is a fantastic opportunity!
