This is the first time in decades that this beautiful legacy property has been on the market. For more than one hundred years the Austin Family have given meticulous attention to every detail including the intricate trail system, preservation of the mature natural timber, and conservation of the abundant wildlife populations. Whether you are looking to build your family’s dream home, an avid outdoorsman seeking a recreational haven, or an investor wanting land to develop in the state’s third fastest growing county...the possibilities are endless.
The Austin Property is located within the Piedmont Upland region of east Central Alabama; an area known for picturesque landscape contours and mineral resources. It’s within a stone’s throw of the beautiful Coosa River, Lake Jordan, and Lake Martin, all known for their exceptional recreational water activities. It features a nice fishing pond spring fed with an outstanding bream and bass population ready for the avid angler or family just looking to make memories. The beautiful Corn Creek flows year round through parts of the land with gorgeous areas of crystal clear waters, small waterfalls, and rock formations with gentle rapids. Its rich history goes back for countless generations as evident in the artifacts oftentimes found throughout the property, such as primitive tools and arrowheads dating back to the original Native American inhabitants. After purchasing the land in the 1900’s, Mr. and Mrs. Austin - both sheriffs of Elmore County - originally utilized the property for agricultural purposes for growing cotton and then later for beef & dairy farming. Their grandson and current owner, Dr. Max Austin, can share countless interesting tidbits regarding this legacy property such as fishing with his grandfather on the banks of the pond that was built by mule-drawn scoops or that his grandmother was the first female sheriff in the state of Alabama and the first warden for Julia Tutwiler prison. Some of the earliest environmental conservation efforts can also be traced back to the Austin Property as it was one of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) campsites during the Great Depression. These young men built the soil terraces that remain in part on the land today.
With more than nine hundred total acres, the Austin Property (East portion) is available en masse or portioned in eight individual tracts each having its own personality, topography, recreational and investment potential.
