Located at elevations ranging from 7200 to 8800 feet, Bearslide Ranch sits on the south slope of Grand Mesa, renowned as the world’s largest flat-topped mountain. The vegetation on the ranch couldn’t be handpicked to be better habitat for big game, being a mix of oak brush, pion/juniper, sagebrush meadows, aspen, and spruce/fir forest. Elk, trophy mule deer, bear, mountain lion, and even moose are all found somewhere on this property year-round, creating multiple hunting opportunities. The property also shares a boundary with Grand Mesa National Forest, allowing access into additional hunting terrain seldom seen by the public. Bird hunting complements big game hunting, with turkey and blue grouse present in healthy numbers as well.

Ward Creek, small permanent stream flows through this property, and supports a population of wild brook trout and cutthroat trout. Ward Creek could be enhanced with larger pools in several areas. A network of several miles of OHV trails spreads throughout the ranch and allows easy motorized access to most areas.

The Lodge at Bearslide Ranch is the crown jewel of the property. At approximately 6400 square feet, it is one of the largest lodges in the area, and includes 9 bedrooms and 6 baths capable of housing up to 20 guests. With tongue and groove aspen throughout and handcrafted beds, the lodge atmosphere is inviting. A giant commercial kitchen with walk-in pantry serves the culinary needs of large crowds, and among the dining room, mini bar, recreation room, great room, and outdoor decks, socializing space is plentiful. The Lodge comes fully furnished, including several full-sized animal mounts. A very large shop has also recently been added to this property, which houses many vehicles and boats with ease.

Mountain recreation of all kinds can be enjoyed on the ranch and the adjacent Grand Mesa. Grand Mesa is home to literally hundreds of lakes and reservoirs, many of which hold trophy-sized trout, and is a pleasant camping retreat at 10,000 feet in the summers. Hiking and horseback riding trails in the area are too numerous to count, and in the winter, ski touring and snowmobiling are popular on the Mesa, only a few minutes away. Downhill skiing is available at Powderhorn Mountain Ski resort is just over the hill on the north side of Grand Mesa.

As privately located as it is, Bearslide Ranch is still only about 8 miles by good roads from the small community of Cedaredge, which offers a medical clinic, grocery store, gasoline, restaurants, and small shops. The larger commercial center of Delta is only about 30 minutes away with Grand Junction and Montrose both around an hour’s drive.
