The main residence on Greer Farm holds a lot of history. A classic farmhouse that has been in the family for years, the home began being restored in '94. An expanded floor plan was added to the original structure. Walking into the threshold, it appears to be a regular two story home. Upon entry you will find the foyer, living area, kitchen and stairs that lead to the upper level bedrooms. As you journey through the house you will find that it expands to an additional open living area, large office, and master bedroom. In total, the house has 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths and 2 half baths. In the master bedroom, you will find a walk-in closet that also serves as a tornado shelter. All of the bedrooms from the original build have gas heat. A unique factor about this home is the three fireplaces and four air conditioning systems throughout. Although it underwent renovation and additions, the home owners wanted to preserve some of the original qualities, such as original flooring in the first established build. The kitchen is designed for cooking and entertaining large groups and has held many cooking classes. There are spacious cabinets, large sinks, and expansive counter space including an island. After exploring the interior of the home, you can head outside to discover many areas to relax. With doors on all sides of the house, one can enjoy Greer Farm from any vantage point. The porch is a covered wrap-a-round, and there are three additional patios. You can enjoy the fresh air or a morning cup of coffee just steps away from either the master bedroom, living room, or kitchen.
Cabins:
Greer Farm is currently renting out their lakeside cabins, alongside their farm to table services. There are four log cabins. Each cabin welcomes you with a covered porch with overhead fan, kitchenette, en suite bathroom, living and sleeping area. They also each come with a Weber charcoal grill. The cabins overlook the private lake, great for fishing or kayaking. When staying in any of the four cabins, you are steps away from the water's edge. Enjoy the view on the front porch, lake dock, or firepit - sipping a cool drink, as the sun sets over the lake.
Additional Buildings:
A 2-bedroom converted barn loft is also on the property. Complete with a living space, spiral staircase to the upper-level bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom.
The other side of the barn is a large storage area for products and miscellaneous farm equipment. It also has several refrigerators to keep cold items.
A storage shed on the property has been updated and renovated into a commercial-grade kitchen. It includes:
Stainless steel gas and oven range
Stainless steel refrigerator
3 bay sink
Hand washing station
Prep space
Bathroom
Water:
Directly in front of the four cabins is the private 11-acre lake. Greer Farm visitors are fond of the lake and spend their time on paddle boats, kayaks, jon boats, canoes and paddle boards. There is a dock on the lake that is the perfect spot to drop a line and reel in one of the giant catfish or bass swimming by. An avid angler has a good chance at catching a trophy bass along the shoreline as well. The Greer Farm current record is 13 pounds!
Fruit Orchard:
In 2005 400 blueberry and 800 blackberry plants were planted on Greer Farm in an area of land that is now an established fruit orchard. Fig trees and plums were additionally planted near the main residence on a separate portion of the property. In 2006, 2,400 more blueberry plants were put in - and in 2007, 500 Austin Blueberries were incorporated into the orchard. In 2014, an additional 1,300 blackberry plants joined the field and 1,500 more were added in 2015. Alongside the berries one can find apples, pears and a variety of other fruits among the orchard.
Farm Life:
There is no shortage of farm animals that roam the Greer Farm. From chickens, geese, pigs, cattle, horses and goats. You can even find a peacock and zebra in the mix. As a part of the farm to table business, Greer Farm currently offers farm-fresh eggs, and bulk beef and pork sales.
