A large fire pit, comfortable bunkhouse, outhouse with a 500-gallon tank, and R.V hookups make it easy for friends and family to enjoy the property.
Improvements
Built in 1939, the cabin is constructed of beautiful pine logs recently corn blasted and re-chinked on both interior and exterior. The 900-square-foot cabin has two bedrooms and one bath. Hardwood floors, a spacious kitchen and a beautiful bathroom are prime features of the residence. Copper plumbing and a 50 year roof are a few of the many things done to keep this cabin updated and stunning. In 2004, the electrical was rewired and grounded. The detached 3-car garage with automatic doors and a large shop area is fully insulated and finished with drywall. The driveway and parking area are rocked to ensure good drainage and traction and the property well has a depth of 395 feet. The cabin sits on four lots, each amended on separate titles while the five additional lots in the aspen grove are individually titled and may be amended to create a single lot for another building site. The boat house has storage for fishing and boating equipment and is located near the beach area/dock which makes for easy boat launching, fishing, and lakefront picnics.

It supports an array of trout such as rainbows, cutbows, palominos, brooks, and browns. There is a put-in point on the north side for docking boats.

History
Hiawatha is the crown jewel for Red Feather Lakes. It’s RFS&I’s oldest lake and stores the largest volume of water. Hiawatha was decreed in 1888 and served as a classic irrigation reservoir, supplied by the Mitchell Ditch. In the 1920’s it was prominently featured as part of Red Feather’s recreation “scene”, and in fact the subject of many photos. During the 1970’s through 90’s, the outlet structure, saddle dam, and spill way were overhauled. Then in 2010 the main dam and outlet structure were reconstructed. From the 1970’s through 2002, the upper Mitchell Ditch was piped which greatly improved the ability to fill not only Hiawatha, but all the lakes.
