DESCRIPTION
The High Point Ranch is entirely in native pasture. The grass turf found across the ranch is typical for the area and is in good condition. The primary grasses include sideoats grama, cane and silver bluestem, blue grama, vine mesquite, little bluestem, green sprangletop and plains bristlegrass. Brush canopy consists of a combination of mesquite and cedar.
The terrain of this ranch is unique for the area, having what has been reported to be the highest point in Howard County being basically in the center of the ranch. The majority of the ranch slopes gently away from this high point.
A large active shotrock limestone quarry (Tubbs Quarry) adjoins the north side of the High Point Ranch. According to Tubbs website, the products produced at this quarry are NOT caliche. It is a pure limestone, providing superior compaction. This has been an active quarry for many years. It is highly probable, since the High Point Ranch adjoins the south side of the Tubbs Quarry and elevation levels on the High Point Ranch increase approximately 50 feet, a significant amount of limestone rock could be found under this ranch.
The perimeter of the property is fenced, with some interior cross fencing. The majority of the fences are in good condition, being of primarily of net wire and steel T-post construction.
Some scattered oil production is located on the property.
