With easy access off of Highway 95, this recreational haven is approximately 20 miles north of New Meadows, Idaho. New Meadows is located along the Payette River Scenic Byway where State Highway 55 and US Highway 95 converge. Its central location and access to a plethora of year-round recreational activities makes New Meadows a popular destination for travelers. This could be one of the reasons this charming community is known as the heartland of Idaho. Residents partake in local annual events such as Meadows Valley Days, the Adams County Fair and the Leroy Matthews Memorial Softball Tournament. Locals and visitors also enjoy swimming at Zims Hot Springs or golfing at Meadow Creek Golf Resort.  Pastimes such as river rafting, kayaking, fishing, boating, jet skiing, camping, hiking, skiing or soaking in the one of the area’s natural hot springs are just a way of life here. 

Approximately 17 miles to the north is the town of Riggins, Idaho, which is known for its excellent Steelhead and Salmon fishing. Riggins is located in Idaho County, which is the state’s largest county and  one of the best locations to experience outdoor adventures. Riggins is the gateway to the scenic Hells Canyon Recreation Area. Other pastimes that visitors enjoy include hiking the trails of the Seven Devils Mountains, attending the annual Salmon River Jet Boat Races, or white water rafting in the Class II to IV rapids on the Salmon River “The River of No Return”.
