Have you been looking for that place that when you drive in every time makes you go WOW??? This place has that WOW factor big time!! As you pull through the gate and crest the hill you are likely going to see deer in the driveway. The power runs in along the driveway as well which makes for one heck of a spot to catch deer crossing and working up and down. Tucked back into the property about 1,000 feet down the driveway sets a gorgeous log sided cabin!! The cabin has had nearly a complete remodel inside, outside including the new steel roof with now an 8/12 pitch with cathedral ceiling. The cabin has two bedrooms and a large main living area that also has great views of the pond! The living area has an excellent open layout with the kitchen, dining and sitting area which is ideal for hanging out with family and friends. The main living areas walls and cathedral ceiling are finished with beautiful natural tongue and groove. The cabin has a wood stove that would heat the place on even the coldest days. The cabin also has a 200 Amp electrical service so on the days when it’s cool but not cold you could use a space heater if you didn’t want to fire up the woodstove. There’s also a wall unit AC for hot summer days. An impressive feature in the kitchen worth noting is the island’s super thick slab of bark on/live edge white pine with posts that match the exterior of the cabin. Also, a large granite countertop storage cabinet in the living room. To expand the sleeping areas the seller has a queen size futon in the living area as well. Outside the cabin is a deck that wraps around two sides. One part of the deck is a fully covered log beam cathedral open gable deck which is ideal for getting out of the sun yet still having views of the pond. Also doubles as a great spot for grilling on rainy days. The other part of the deck wraps around the pond side of the cabin. Equally as impressive as the cabin are the views the cabin has looking over the approximately 14-acre spring-fed pond that’s partially on this property. The seller had a windmill put in and two aerators to keep the water open in a couple of spots through the winter and also had the pond stocked with bluegills and bass. The status of this initial stocking is still unknown due to the size of the fish when put in. The pond is breathtaking to look at. It can be great hunting for ducks and geese! It’s also frequented by swans. It has that mystical Northwood’s feel. One that stirs the imagination of gliding along silently in a canoe on a crisp morning with rising steam fog as the suns coming up. While you're out there taking it in perhaps the local beaver swims by and slaps the water. Or that giant buck in velvet is at the waters edge taking a drink. That’s the feel this place has. The Prairie River winds around through part of the southwestern portion of the land. This is also a beautiful river that has excellent spring sucker runs that would be excellent for fishing, bow fishing or spearing. Spring suckers can be tasty smoked!! Along the river, there is an area where the river bends with a beautiful spot someone could potentially build another cabin having the river essentially on three sides. The land is top-notch in all aspects. The topography is a beautiful mix of hills, ridges, knolls and some level areas that would be excellent for food plots. The are lots of oaks spread around on the ridges and while walking the ground I saw loads of acorns for the deer, bear and turkey. The rest of the timber is a mix of maple, aspen, spruce, white pine and ash. About 21 years ago the seller had about 40 acres of timber harvested spread over a couple of areas. So that cut will be ready again soon if someone wanted to harvest again. The remaining acreage hasn’t been touched in 70+ years and also has tons of potential income sitting there. The edges and bedding areas created by the mix of timber, hills and topography is unreal. The seller has established trails accessing all areas of the property as well as several large box stands and many other tree stands throughout the property. They have had excellent hunting and shot some large bucks over the years with bow and gun. Besides the main pond and the Prairie River there are also two other beaver ponds on the property that hold ducks, geese and many fur-bearing critters. The only way for a person to really understand the depth of things that this property offers is to actually see it!
