Long Straw Ranch is a stunning and meticulously maintained property that has been carefully managed for over 15 years with a focus on habitat preservation and ecological restoration. The current stewards of the land have worked diligently to return the landscape to its native glory, implementing a long-term strategy to improve both the health and functionality of the environment. Extensive efforts have gone into reclaiming pastures by reseeding with native grasses, eradicating invasive plant species, and shaping the land through an intricate network of trails and strategically placed fire breaks. These improvements not only enhance the land’s natural beauty but also promote sustainable wildlife populations and provide access for recreation and land management.
Spanning a diverse terrain, the ranch is approximately half covered with mature timber, which contributes to notable elevation changes across the property. These rolling wooded sections, interspersed with clearings and meadows, create ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife species. There are five ponds located throughout the ranch, offering both scenic views and valuable water sources for animals and livestock alike.
Wildlife is abundant at Long Straw Ranch, making it a true haven for outdoor enthusiasts and hunters. Healthy populations of whitetail deer and wild turkey roam the property year-round. Waterfowl such as ducks are frequent visitors to the ponds, and wild hogs are commonly seen throughout the area, adding to the recreational appeal of the ranch. Whether you're interested in observing wildlife, hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the peace and quiet of nature, this ranch offers something for everyone.
Despite its secluded and natural setting, Long Straw Ranch is conveniently located less than 90 minutes from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Easy access via major highways such as I-35 and US 287 ensures that this tranquil escape is never too far from the conveniences of urban life, making it an ideal spot for a weekend getaway, a full-time homestead, or a legacy family retreat.
At the heart of the property, situated on five beautifully manicured acres, are four distinct residences and a large, fully functional barn. The 3,600-square-foot barn is equipped with corrals and provides ample space for equipment, storage, or livestock needs. The primary residence is a 3,100-square-foot custom-built log home, offering three spacious bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a gourmet chef’s kitchen designed for entertaining and family gatherings.
Complementing the main house are three additional dwellings that provide flexibility and comfort for guests, extended family, or staff. These include a charming 1,400-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom guest log cabin; a stylish 1,200-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom guest casita; and a rustic yet comfortable 1,300-square-foot hunter’s bunkhouse with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Whether you envision Long Straw Ranch as your primary residence, a weekend retreat, or a multi-generational family compound, it offers the perfect blend of privacy, accessibility, and recreational opportunity. Few properties can match its combination of natural beauty, wildlife diversity, and high-quality improvements all within a short drive from the Metroplex. Long Straw Ranch truly represents the best of North Texas living.
