The county seat of Van Horn is about 18 miles to the north. Van Horn is about 120 miles east of El Paso and sits right on Interstate 10. It's a beautiful town with 18 restaurants, 17 motels, churches, library, hospital, 2 museums, 4 RV parks, campground, and a full array of stores. It also has a visitors bureau and a small convention center. The city park offers picnic areas, a swimming pool, basketball courts, a playground, and there are tennis courts at the high school. The county airport is there and you can always enjoy a round at the Mountain View Golf Course. Movie fans come to visit the sets from Lonesome Dove, Dad Man's Walk, and Blue Sky. There is a renovated 1944 Union Pacific caboose on display.

You are only a short distance from the Rio Grande River withs all its water sports, and within easy drives are Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Carlsbad Caverns, Big Bend National Park, and several other parks and points of interest.
