In the heart of Mississippi along the historic Natchez Trace Parkway is this legacy recreational property. The "Yock" represents the largest block of private family ownership along the Yockanookany River Bottoms in the state of Mississippi (1,592+/- ac). The current owners assembled this rare asset over a 25 year period in multiple transactions.
When you pull off the Trace and enter the private drive you feel the significance as you wind through the huge cypress and oak trees. When you pull off the Trace and enter the private drive you feel the significance as you wind through the huge cypress and oak trees. Before our country existed, American Indians had networks of trails along this corridor which were utilized by the Natchez, Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribes. Moving forward, as our country was in its infancy, this trade route was one of the busiest in America with flatboatmen out of Kentucky, settlers, soldiers, preachers and a myriad of other travelers utilizing the Trace to navigate what were, at that time, the far reaches of our land.
Today, the Yock offers a wealth of wildlife and natural resources. From riverbottom deer hunting, to chasing longbeards, to just enjoying the natural beauty of the property, you will find the Yock to be a captivating retreat from the crazy and busy world we live in.
One of the most unique features about the property, is the main lodge which most guests say evokes memories from their favorite childhood movie, Swiss Family Robinson. The structural beams for the lodge were crafted from large Cypress Trees that were actually felled on the property. These huge Cypress beams are fully exposed and come up through the great room where a large masonry fireplace waits for you to share the tales of your hunting experiences.
The Yock is large enough for multiple families to enjoy together or it could even be used as a corporate retreat or for entertaining clients.
