The Wallace Evans House was built in 1853 and was part of the William B Travis land grant from Spain/Mexico. Its was moved to its present location at 4941 Main Street in Chappell Hill and fully restored. Many of the rooms in the house have wooden walls and original longleaf pine floors. The main floor houses formal dining and living rooms, kitchen, half bath and glassed informal back porch overlooking the back yard and guest house. There are two wood burning fireplaces in the formals downstairs. Two bedrooms and full bath is on the second floor. The one bedroom and full bath at the rear of the property has a raised deck and fire pit.
