The 2258+/- Sq. Ft. Home was originally built in 1910, but was later updated and expanded in 1990. Setting on a knoll overlooking part of the property, and with a winding paved driveway and wraparound front porch, the estate has a sense of curb appeal that you have to see to appreciate. The downstairs of the home is complete with 2 living areas, as well as two additional rooms that could be used for bedrooms or a variety of other uses. These rooms do not have traditional doors, and instead have kept the original wooden pillar features in place, as the home was originally designed. The remainder of the downstairs is complete with the modern country-style kitchen with its abundance of cabinets, and open layout, as well as a full bathroom. Upstairs you will find two traditional styled bedrooms with large walk-in closets, a second bathroom, as well as another family area, entertainment area, or what could be used as a centralized gaming area for children. The home has undergone multiple updates including new downstairs windows as recently as last year, as well as a Generac backup generator that automatically provides power to the house during a power outage.
Behind the home to the West, you will find the large 90’x45’ Morton Building. With four (4) 8’x10’ role up doors, including three (3) with electronic door openers. The shop offers plenty of room for the vehicle enthusiast or for your off-road/outdoor toys. There are also two large sliding doors on the South end of the shop that could be utilized for storing a camper or RV, while you will find the workshop at the North end. This area has been sectioned off, insulated, and is climate controlled by a gas furnace and window air unit. The area also contains its own half bath, industrial sized air compressor with an internal air line plumbed throughout the entire shop, as well as a large electric hoist that will all transfer. In addition to the shop, there are also additional outbuildings including a stone building that is used for storage, an additional garage with garage door, a stone spring house with its artesian spring and catch basin, which serves as the main source of domestic water for the property, as well as a vintage 1970’s era caboose that has been mostly restored, has electricity, and offers a multitude of uses such as simply providing as a conversation piece, to a more elaborate one of a kind potential children’s clubhouse.
The south end of the property consists of 78+/- acres of mixed pasture and timber, that has recently been used for grazing and is fenced and cross fenced, but also could be used for recreation such as ATV/UTV trails, wildlife viewing, or hunting opportunities. This area of the property is also where you will find a year round water source in the pond that is believed to be Spring fed, that’s just a short distance from the house, and that could easily be enlarged to become a more prominent feature on the property. As you move to the North through the property you will come to a large 6+/-acre meadow that was once used for hay production, but has not been for the last few recent years. This area would again make an idea hunting location for a raised enclosed blind and the rifle hunter in mind. Just past the meadow, you will find what is known as the figure 8 fields and what stands out as one of the most natural pinch points on the property to utilize for hunting. The timbered fence row on the South side of these fields, as well as the approximately 1/4 mile of South Owl Creek which is a year round live water creek on the North side of the fields, funnel wildlife through these fields. Large white oaks, as well as other hardwood trees line these fields and offer ample tree stand locations, as well as additional wildlife food sources such as honeysuckle and various other sources of native browse. This area consists of highly desirable silt loam soil that was once used as tillable acreage, and sets up well for, and could be further enhanced with the addition of a large food plot.
Finally on the North end of the property you will find the 29+/- acres of silt loam soil that is currently being utilized as tillable acreage, and is leased to a neighboring farmer, who in recent years has planted crops such as corn, soybeands, milo, wheat and oats. This area could be used to help expand the new owner’s current operation, provide a return on investment, or depending on the crop serve as a destination ag field for wildlife and offer additional hunting opportunities. In addition to whitetail deer and turkey, the field has also been known to attract large numbers of geese and waterfowl off of neighboring bodies of water.
